Lent is time of reflection and repentance but we are also called to bring hope and joy by our lentern observance as a sign of God‘s love to our needy brothers and sisters in our communities.
Our BEC St Francis of Assisi (Sec. 5) Lentern outreach effort was to visit Shal Home Care, in Sec. 5 – a home for mentally challenged people with about 90 residents under the care of Mdm Sheela.
Our BEC chief Anne Choong and the Social Concern chief Robert Lazar led the group together with the residents of the home in prayers, followed by praise and worship.
The residents were then entertained by our very own musicians Jackie Thong and George Leong who shared the dance floor with the residents. The music of the 70s and 80s was a delight to the residents who took the opportunity to show their singing talents too. It was a joy to experience their excitement and fun as they enjoyed themselves.
Our time there ended with a fellowship lunch provided by the BEC. Members took some time meeting the residents and getting to know them better. It was indeed a beautiful day and time well spent.
To God be the Glory.
