Sec 10 holds BEC gathering in BM

Sec10 BM gathering 1 MediumThrough much planning and support of the BEC core team and members, St. Peter & Paul BEC held their first monthly reflection in Bahasa Malaysia at the Marist Educare Centre in Section 10. More than 30 members had come together for this reflection despite continuous rain; perhaps a sign of showers of blessings. The purpose of having this session in the national language was to benefit our brothers and sisters from Sabah and Sarawak who live in our neighbourhood and make them feel welcomed.

The theme “Mengikut Jalan Kristus” (Following the Way of Christ) – this year’s Lent theme - was conducted by Sr. Maria Chan, FMM who used both English and BM for the benefit of all. The hymns were in Bahasa Malaysia and so were some of the readings. Sharing was also in dual language and it was enlightening to hear our East Malaysians sharing their thoughts on following Christ.

Sec10 BM gathering 3 MediumDuring the session we were given a little game to play where we all had to follow the leader, basically indicating that we are followers of Christ, thus we must be Christ like. Then we went into darkness with only a single candle to illuminate the room. The sound of a little gong put us into a meditative mood so that we could reflect on our own inhibitions and get closer to God. As the gong resounded again, we felt refreshed and happy to have had this experience of getting closer to Christ and especially so in this season of Lent.

Of course no gathering would be complete without an array of food. Apart from filling our tummies to the brim we got to know our brothers and sisters from Sabah and Sarawak better. With this, stronger ties were developed and with the hope of more similar gatherings and interactions in the future.
