Youth groups gather to share
Lifeline Ministry got together single college students and working adults in the parish on 4 March to get know each other and reflect on their efforts.
LifeNite, was the first of its kind since the formation of the Parish Youth Committee (PYC), said Victor Kean. This event was initially conceived as a follow-up activity to attract the youth to the monthly Youth Mass. The idea was to have a youth gathering and fellowship after the mass so that there would be an opportunity for those from different ministries to meet, eat, share and pray together.
The event began with an opening prayer before the fellowship meal followed by a short praise and worship session.
Celestine, one of the Lifeline leaders recalls Fr Lawrence saying that the church wants to listen to the youth about what need today. He said that the Pope will be having a platform where youth from all around the world can submit questions, concerns, suggestions to the Church, so that our Church can also equip itself to serve the youth better.
Fr Alberto also addressed the youth asking them to cherish their friendships. He added that it was really nice that both English and Malay speaking ministries can gather and get to know each other as all are one under Christ.
Frank Augustin, the parish youth pastoral worker was introduced to the group, followed by representatives from each ministry within the PYC sharing their respective ministry's functions and goals as well as the representative's personal experience of being and serving within that ministry.
The participants were then split into groups to get to know each other better by sharing the reasons why they attended the event as well as what they hoped to gain from being in ministry.
LifeNite will be on every 1st Saturday of the month with the following schedule:
1.Light meal after mass
2.Praise & worship
3.Opening prayer
4.Input sessions (talks, movie, group sharing)
5.Closing prayer
