Parish celebrates Rite of Election
SFX parish celebrated the Rite of Election of 56 catechumens beginning with their sending at the 11.30 am mass on Sunday 5 March and followed by their being received by the Archbishop in the afternoon.
They have been diligently preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation through the RCIA programme and were presented in the Church to be sent for ‘election’.
This sending is a public pronouncement that the catechumens are ready to enter a covenant relationship through participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
They were presented to Archbishop Julian Leow in the afternoon at the Church of the Holy Family, Kajang. The Archbishop received the catechumens’ Book of the Elect where their names are recorded.
Leading up to the Rite of Election, the catechumens, the RCIA team, the sponsors, and parish staff have discerned the readiness of the catechumens to proceed to a time of purification and enlightenment.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Rites of Scrutiny will be at the 5.30 pm masses on 19 March, 26 March and 2 April respectively.
We pray for them and wish them well on their journey to full initiation into the Catholic faith which culminates at the Easter Vigil celebration on 15 April.
