Listening, Learning, Praying the Bible

Bible100Wks 1Course to cover whole Bible and enrich faith

‘The Bible in 100 Weeks’ is a process of reading the whole Bible with a listening and prayerful mind, said Father Marcel Le Dorze.

SFX parishioners now have the opportunity to participate in this programme of listening, learning and praying the Bible. The course begins on 13 February, and will be held every Monday 8.00-10.00 pm at Loyola Hall.

The programme initiated by Paris Foreign Mission (MEP) Fr Le Dorze 42 years ago helps to nurture the faith of adult Catholics and familiarizes participants with the Hebrew Scriptures, New Testament and Apocrypha.
Father Michel Christiaen, programme director at St. Mary Cathedral in Tokyo a few years ago said, “Every faithful has the right and responsibility to read the Scriptures through at least once, but if you do it alone, it does not go well."

He continued, "If you share the Word of God in a community as people of God, it brings a moment which is hundreds of times more fruitful than one in a solo effort."

Bible100Wks 2Msgr James Gnanapragasam in introducing the course at the Church of The Visitation Seremban a few years ago, explained that it is not meant to be an academic course but meant to allow participants to read the entire Bible over a period of time.

Programme alumnus Mizuno Yoko from Tokyo wrote in a Catholic weekly magazine that she owed a great deal for completion of the program to her fellow participants with whom she "journeyed together throughout the program."

Fr Le Dorze, who began ministry at St. Mary Cathedral in Tokyo in 1955, initiated the programme during the 1974-1975 jubilee year. He notes that his first 20 years of ministry in the parish convinced him of the need for continual faith education for adults after Baptism. Fr Le Dorze returned to the Lord in 2015.

The course begins on 13 February, every Monday 8.00-10.00pm, Loyola Hall. Registration is closed now. Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for any questions.
