Life Teen youth reach out to youth
LifeTeen celebrated their 15th Anniversary in SFX with a mass and a party on 18 February. Current members got together for a mass and an evening of prayer, praise and fellowship.
They also took the opportunity to welcome other youth to join their group, especially the ‘new teens’ – those just turning 13 this year. LifeTeen is for those between the ages of 13 and 17 years.
Victor Kean, the LifeTeen leader said about 50 youth turned up at the party; more than they had expected. There were also a few guests from St Thomas More Church, Kristus Aman Chapel and Assumption Church.
He explained that the LifeTeen programme was introduced in SFX by Fr Larry Tan on 2 February 2002 (020202). The group is meant to be a place to build community for teens, to complement their religious education classes. Their motto is “Leading teens closer to Christ”.
LifeTeen meets on some Saturdays of the year after the 6.30 pm mass. Flyers of the year’s programme (see below) were given out with catchy titles and themes. Not too much details were given to keep the suspense and entice the youth to come and find out.

Background
Life Teen is a comprehensive youth ministry program with a strong focus on the Eucharist. It is a parish-based Catholic-centered ministry for all high school teens. The goal of Life Teen is to create an environment to lead teens into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. It speaks to teens on all levels: emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual.
The primary objective is to encourage teens to realize a deeper relationship with Christ and to challenge them to live their faith as they carry out their daily lives. Teens experience this sharing in an atmosphere of love and acceptance from their peers and the adult leaders who are there to assist them in their journey.
