We knelt in prayer; now we stand up for our faith

SFX parishioners joined in solidarity with the rest of Malaysia’s Catholics for an evening of special prayer for the nation on Friday 24 February.

In the homily for the mass that evening, Fr Lawrence stressed how powerful prayer is to change things in ways we cannot imagine. At this moment, the prayer was for the country.

The Malaysian Catholic Bishops who called for this national day of prayer urged all Catholics in the country “to work together…in steering our nation, society and the Church towards the common good, as well as shaping a culture of peace”.

The intentions of the prayers were two-fold – for the knowledge and wisdom of our Parliament in working for the good of all Malaysians, and that we “strive to be beacons of hope and mercy” in the country to mirror the face of Jesus Christ.

We knelt in prayer. Now we stand up for our faith.
