Retreat brings youth leaders together for bonding and learning

Youth ministries leaders took some time off to learn, reflect, pray and bond for a few days last month.

Youth leaders retreat 2017 1About forty youths and facilitators spent 9 to 12 February at The Farm in Lenggang, Negeri Sembilan learning and discussing the art of discernment, vision statement, challenges in Catholic leadership and the importance of our youth ministries among other topics.

Seven leaders from the Catholic Students Society of University of Malaya (CSSUM) joined other youth leaders from LifeLine, LifeTeen, CSSBM and YD. Sharing sessions between the different leaders from different ministries helped participants learn more about leadership and life basics. It was also a great time to create bonds with the other youth ministries.

The youth said it was a wonderful event and they learned so many things in such a short period.

“We are reawakening in faith to continue serving God by leading our members to Christ. It was an eye-opening event and a good kick-off of our new semester in UM that started right after the retreat,” said one CSSUM leader sharing the sentiments of participants.

They added, “We would like to thank the organising team; SFX Parish, parish priests Fr Lawrence and Fr Alberto, Brother Michael, Uncle Frank [Frank Augustin], Big Chief and Uncle Andrew Yong for this great opportunity to strengthen our faith and vision as Catholic leaders.”
